Again, I'm not sure of the exact requirements, it could well be that this only applies to commercial, passenger carrying vessels. I still cannot remember where I read it, online or in a magazine. I remember it as a fairly new requirement (or a new interpretation of an old requirement?). The obvious concern was the bowl melting in an engine fire and adding fuel to it.I noticed it and remembered it (though not too well!) because #1, I have a Racor with a plastic bowl in my engine compartment and #2, I am planning on setting up a redundant filter system as well. I remember thinking Oh great, now I'll have to buy 2 new filters instad of just 1.Paul, as I understand it, they would be OK for use outside of the engine compartment.Toms/v Orion's Child
