Outhaul

I am awaiting my new main sail which will have a loose foot. I am also rebuilding the outhaul on the boom and have the boom in my garage right now. I want to some how route the outhaul sheet back to the cockpit so the crew/skipper can adjust easily. At present the factory design has it at the front of the boom. Has anyone tried routing the sheet off the front block on the boom down the mast, along the cabin top to a cam cleat somewhere along the edge of the cockpit? Or how about installing a thru-block on the bottom of the aft end of the boom so the sheet is available above the cockpit. This might be an easy vantage point to just reach up and adjust on the fly as needed. Thanks for your ideas and suggestions. Paul #1828

Outhaul aft

All my lines run aft including the outhaul. The line run from the outhaul, forward, along the boom down to a head block at the foot of the mast and then through a deck top line organizer and then through a multiple line clutch to the deck top closest to the cockpit where it also holds two other lines. Works great.

RE; outhaul aft...

Roger, Do you have your outhaul internal or external? What purchase do you have? I was going to set up a 6:1 internal outhaul and possibly run the line out through the existing sheeve at the bottom front of the boom and then run to the cockpit as you did. Thanks for the info. Paul
