Hello all. I have researched the archives and can't find the answer to this. I bought a 1974 Cat 27 which has been converted from an Atomic 4 with an outboard mount. I want to remove that mount and install a CMC PT-35 power tilt/trim unit. I ordered the tilt unit yesterday. I have never seen a Cat 27 that is properly set up for an outboard, so I have no idea where, or how large the cut the transom well. Also, it would be great to know chow they finished the edges of the cut at the factory. The only other option I can think of would be to install a Garelick Fixed Motor Bracket and install the CMC unit on that. I'm not sure that would hold the motor out far enough to actually tilt it all the way out of the water. Thanks, Tim

you need rsn48 ...

As far as I know, there is all the supports for the outboard well already built in the stern. However, keep in mind a modern 4 stroke will NOT fit into the stock sized motor well. There's a really good guy on this forum who goes by rsn48 who did a great job on his boat mounting a 4 stroke with power tilt. I have the stock setup and there's no way a 4 stroke outboard will fit into the hole, power tilt or not. rsn48 ended up glassing his motor well over and mounting everything ex-stern-aly. For not, I'm sailing with motor in the lowered position, that costs about a knot. Later, eh! Ferg

Yes

Yes, I did check the Cat27 site. There's not much there unless you are a member.

Thanks

Thanks Ferg. I don't really care about 4 strokes fitting. I have a two stroke, and will continue to have it until it's cold, dead and bloated.
