Based on the H33 number of 591 I would guess even more H30's. Any H30 owners out there with 6xx?
Ed, if memory serves the H30 debuted in model year 1974, as I was doing the interior layout drawings in summer '73 and attended the production meetings in August '73. If it took them a full year to ramp up production, let's say making only 1-2 boats a week, that would mean approximately a hundred boats; and then there would be 5 a week for the next 5-7 years or so. This would suggest an astonishing 1600-odd boats from the same design (they must have had several hull molds for each model). Even if we were a little more pessimistic we could presume that at least half this many were built.
A way to test this extremely generalized hypothesis is to get answers to the following questions.
1. Is there an H30 with a 1975 hull number greater than 125?
2. Is there an H30 with a 1976 hull number greater than 250?
3. Is there an H30 with a 1977 hull number greater than 500?
4. Is there an H30 with a 1981 hull number greater than 750?
If people want to e-mail me their info I'll begin to assemble a proper data base and post the findings on my blog.
If you've read this and are curious, I'd like to ask for:
-- the FULL Hull Identification Number;
-- year of title or first registration;
-- geographical origin of the boat;
-- photos if you'd like to share them (or post them on the Owners' site and send me the link).
I'll assemble what I can-- and shall appreciate any help. Maybe we can begin to do what Hunter has been reluctant to. Surely we've got the interest just amongst ourselves.
If you know anyone with a boat, who might not get this, pass it on
