For hose whats best? Raritan Sani at $12 a foot (Ouch) or Sealand odor safe at $8.20 a foot. What about 1" vent hose..any suggestions. Thanks
I don't recommend SeaLand OdorSafe hose...I've personally been on too many boats on which it has permeated in less than a year.
There are only two hoses I recommend...Trident 101 and Raritan SaniFlex. Trident 101 is about the same price as the SeaLand hose. It's a double-walled rubber hose that's been on the market about 20 years without a single reported odor permeation failure...but it has one possible drawback: it's as stiff as an ironing board, so unless your hose runs have no bends sharper than a gradual sweep, it may not be the best choice, 'cuz heating any hose to make it bend tighter than it wants to bend willingly will damage it, causing it to tear or kink...so you'd have to break it and insert inline radius fittings. Raritan SaniFlex is pricy...but it's so flexible that it can literally make a U-turn...and there's never been single reported odor permeation failure in it in the 6+ years since Raritan introduced it.
So which to use depends on how straight the sections will be. This is NOT the place to go cheap to save money 'cuz you'll just end up having to spend more later if you do.
Both are available in 1" and 1.5", but the vent line is one place you can risk going cheap as long as it's sanitation hose and not water hose. So you can use Shields or Trident #148 for that and your toilet inlet line.
