Didn’t practice jumping from carrier deck and that’s true!
No Carrier deck, but there was a 10 meter platform to jump off. Boots first. Come back to the surface. Inflate pants. Tread water/float on pants, reinflate pants then get out of the water to qualify. Some unlucky guys got to attempt it more

Had gotten a pair of Spinlock Deskvest inflatables for the Admiral and me at the Annapolis boat show last year and love those, very comfortable, high buoyancy and crotch straps.
That left guests in West Marine inshore inflatables, which did not feels as secure, so we picked up a couple of Spinlock Deskvest Lite inflatables, same buoyancy, crotch straps but no tether strap, but they won't be going out when that is needed.

Yeah, I was one of those unlucky guys. However, when I got out of the pool, I was instructed to go stand in that line. I knew what that meant so I just meandered over to the other line. Two days later my CO called me to his office saying, "I don't know how you pulled that off", and he wasn't exactly nice about it. Scrubbed a lot of tile in Boot. Funny now, fifty years later.
