Just remember, the no-seeums screens will really cut down on the ventilation.
So why would you have hatches, ports, etc. open if you have the air conditioning running?I will use them while at dock with air conditioning running and remove them when out sailing for the day. I figure the AC will push some air. If I needed to, I could run the AC with the generator on anchor.

I figure I am going to need the screen over the AC area and the camponway door even when in does not seal up all the way. I just have a $99 window unit. I was not planning on having the ports or hatches open, but on my boat I can see that those little vampire flies will get in around those areas.
Most of the adaptations I've seen have the A/C unit in the companionway. A few will have it on the cabintop with a more elaborate mount and ducting to get the air in and out of the cabin properly. The companionway mount is usually far simpler and easier to implement, but makes getting in and out of the cabin much more difficult.Dave: I'm curious about your "$99 window unit". I've been looking into getting A/C but I can't figure out how to use a window unit. Where are you placing this on your boat? The units I've looked at don't seem to fit anywhere. The only one that I've seen that does work is the one that fits on the hatch. What type of A/C (brand?) are you using?
Yes, any screen slows the air down. Nuff said. The bigger the screens the better.I am planning a get away on the boat in late June or early July into the heart of no see-um territory. Right when they are at their most hungered stage and human flesh is on the menu. What screen mesh works but still allows air flow?
I am taking the windows out of a broken, barely used, cheap tent to re-screen the ports on my H27. Does any one have a suggestion on what type of glue to use for this screen to plastic frame application? I'm using the method of stapling the screen to a piece of plywood (pulling it tight to reduce wrinkles), sliding the frames underneath, gluing the screen to the frames, and then cutting off the excess after the glue is dried.
I used Seth Dixon's idea and his step by step photos. He had such a good idea for an O'Day 25, I had to copy it all. These are his photos.Dave: I'm curious about your "$99 window unit". I have had it in the compainway before as a quick fix but as SD said it is a pain to get in and out. Also by having it in the forward hatch it allows me to run the generator in the cockpit with very little chance of the AC unit sucking in fumes. The hatch works well to direct the air into the cabin. I will get the brand name for you. It was the wal mart special with a remote.
