Regarding the reduced ventilation with fine screens: a 12 inch fan running off your shore power when in a marina solves that problem. And as another poster suggested.... anchor out, away from shore... anyplace you can find a breeze.
It is very efficient with a very low startup current draw. Very quiet. The output blows out horzontally instead of up at 45 degree angle like most $99 units. It is well worth the extra $50 bucks.
we keep them out with flexible charcoal colored nylon screens edged with velcro and cut to fit the companionway and hatches.." one hand for the boat " our personal defense is to apply skin so soft. it really works.." one hand for yourself " one of our neighbors made the screen to fit outside and drape down. it's edged in sunbrella and sand. neat in appearance and effective.
