I decided when we got the boat that I was not going to keep track of the cost. It's not about the money, it's all about the experience!
That's a good idea if you own the boat outright. But you can use the costs to defray taxes. You might consider keeping track of them.

Shawn;

The rewiring project didn't really go through one avenue on the boat.

All of the fore wiring (head lights, fore cabin lights, and AC power outlets ran behind the seats to the nav table. I 5200'd blocks of wood against the hull and fastened the runs on these.

The wiring from the galley lights, overhead lights, LED strips under the shelves, and all of the wiring from the cockpit, mast and running lights ran through the galley, past the gas tank into the nav table.

So the nav table became the new terminal for all the wiring. I built a new panel station that fits above the nav table.

The original table had the flat horizontal lift top. The back had the original fiddles and a little panel that I could lift up. Inside the PO had created a setup that allowed him to place 3 citronella candles in there...strang. I included some before, during and after pics.

I used the Blue Seas AC panel, battery switch and DC panel along with the old auto bilge pump switch and a monitor for the Xantrex battery charger.

Good luck. I'm pretty happy with it so far and we'll see if all my crimps and wiring hold up!

Chris

Could I ask you guys with retrofits about your holding tanks? What kind of tank did you use and where did you store it? I recently removed a bladder tank and would like to put a hard tank in, but cannot find one that fits under the port side settee... What are the dimensions of yours? Tank you!

Great pic, you should send that to Moyer's sight. He posts some great engine pictures there too.

Where did you get the sparkplug wiring? I know Moyer's has a set, just wondering if you found a better location or a car model that fits.

Lookin' Good!

Thanks guys! I'm very happy that it turned out ok. I took a huge risk because I bought my boat without knowing if the engine would work. It turned over...but I had no idea what was wrong or how to fix it. The engine had been my biggest worry for months.

I got the spark plug wiring from Moyer. I started looking into buying them from somewhere else (local - within a few mins drive). But decided to get them from Moyer because I have a short attention span...haha.

The only thing I have left to do is replace my temporary black wiring with the proper pre-tinned with heat shrink wrapping.

I'll go sign up on their forum.

if your boat is like mine - i have a 91 - i put a fiddle at the bottom of the empty space below the nav table and now have a decent size bookhelf.

She looks like she took on a lot of water. Have U checked the compresion post base & such for rot? I had a C25 years ago that took on about 2 feet of water in the cabin from a bad swing keel trunk. Was a bitch to fix & clean up, but I only paid $1200 for the boat so I couldn't complain, but I will anyway! I don't envy your job ahead? Cheers

Wow, you weren't joking when U said refit. Aren't U worried about the hull & deck sagging or loosing their shape with the bulkheads completely removed like that?

I put new bulkheads back in within a few days. Used the old ones to trace a new pattern, went to town with a jig saw, then sanded, stained, and varnished em.

The compression post and keel stub are still on my to do list. I'm hoping to get to them in about two weeks or so.

SWG, let me know how your compression post thing goes...mine seems OK still, even though the P.O. let water sit in the bilge for 30 years. I poked at it and stuck my nose in there and put bright lights in it, & examined it every way I could think of, and it seems to be holding.
