Music in my boat

I do have a sharp contrast story in my sailboat. I have yet to install any sound in my boat. On my last vacation, the whole family was out for a night sail. The moon brightly lit the whole lake as it reflected on the water. My daughter being resourceful called up her best friend and had her play Moonlight Sonata on the piano, while we listened to it through her cell phone. I had a small bucket that we placed the phone in, to give is a barrier to focus the sound so we could her it from her speaker phone. While the quality was limited, it was the highlight of our vacation.
Our club has water wars. Sail around and squirt, splash, throw buckets of water, you get the idea. One water war day, while waiting for some victims to show up, I realized it would be super fun wage war while Wagner's "Die
Walkure" was blasting from my boat. I guess I was channelling a bit of Apocalypse Now. So, I pulled out the magic phone, found a version on the iTunes Store, purchased and downloaded, to play through my Bluetooth speaker from the cockpit. Now that I have Apple Music, I'd just find it and stream it, without having to purchase and download.

Of course, an on-demand live performance of Moonlight Sonata like you describe would probably be better ambiance.

You know, Robert Duvall says he still has people walk up to him on the street and recite: "The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory."

For those who may be interested, here is a good presentation by real professionals about audio myths. Its probably where we should have started.

Way back in the day the best speaker was the one that moved across the floor in its cardboard box the fastest when the vol. was cranked.
