Lake Minnetonka has got to be the most expensive place in the nation to keep a boat. $200/foot is the going commercial rate in all the marinas. Every now and then you see a boat that looks like the annual slip fee is more than the poor thing is worth.

Other area lakes not nearly so bad, but it's a supply and demand thing on Minnetonka, and supply is winning.

WOW!

My slip is $1000/year.... includes electricity and water and the place has a decent bath house. I'm glad I live in the sticks....

I'm paying $3300/yr (about $8.60/ft per month). That's up the coast at Pender Hbr, and I'm looking at bringing it back down to Vancouver.
Guess I'm getting old: I can remember when it was $5/ft per month...

Can't do much about you getting old but you could make the Sea of Cortez with that budget. Some for fuel, a little for marinas, and plenty on wine & dine.

Presently paying $150 per month for a 50ft slip + metered electricity. Checked on the Mississippi coast, most are $175 -225 per month with electric included. Florida Panhandle is $400-450 per month range.

Those prices aren't that bad, Our local small lake marina charges this:
weekly $ 250.00
Bi-weekly $ 400.00
Monthly $ 700.00
Season $ 2700.00
Has electrical hookup. Accommodate
up to 24 ft boats

They are the only private marina on the lake, they can charge what ever they want, or I can buy a slip for 60K.
and this is from may till October.

Too bad, Everett is $395.70 monthly for a 32 plus power usage. Price includes taxes and environmental fees. It changes as LOA changes.
Hi Ken, one of the reasons why we moved out of the Everett Marina to Shelter Bay Marina was moorage fees. Yes, it would be closer to where we live in Mukilteo, but then again, it takes less than an hour and we're in the San Juan Islands as opposed to six plus hours. A 42' vessel pays less than $300/mo. Plus, they just finished installing a very nice electric pump out station.

My boat is measured 26 ft overall = $4,155 + 5% GST / year
I think electricity is charged at $0.10 / kwh + taxes?
I've been at here for 20 years now. All put together this is still the best marina for a sailboat.
You may have another shock in that most marinas with easy access to sailing are full (especially for 30+ foot boats) and you have to pay to be on the weight list. Start by phoning the marinas in the "blue book".

Ken - I think you are $100 high for a 32' open moorage - I'm paying $350 + $6&usage for electrical - payable 2 months at a time for my 36. The $$ you quoted are for covered slips. I'll probably move up to a 40 when I put dinghy davits on and keep the dinghy on the boat.

Portland, off Eastern Prom. Granted I'm talking a mooring not a slip. I also bought the tackle oversized and deep for my boat upgrade, whenever that happens.

At Shilshole in Seattle I pay 472/mo for a 36' slip. At this time I'm willing to pay a premium for a slip 5 minutes from my front door but I've been thinking about retirement coming up in a few years and wondering about other marinas in the area.

Moored in Sandy Point at 220 mo but I hated the entrance it scared the crap out of me every time I had to go in or out Blaine is a Very Close Marina for me only about 20min drive so i'll stay there for a while it also has a very deep entrance Currents can be a bit strong at times But overall a Good Place to Moore the Boat

I'm on a mooring here in Muskegon, $550 for the summer. Outdoor winter storage runs $21 to $27 a foot between the various yards. Inside storage is much more. Slips run $1500 to $3000 for the summer. I don't think any of them charge extra for water or electric. And yes, it freezes here so that's six months in six months out.

But to access the Gulf Islands, Vancouver Island or up the coast, you must clear Canadian Customs. Which would be Bedwell Hbr, probably. For me to spend a day in, say, Wallace Island, I'd have to:
- Clear US Customs at Blaine
- Sail to Bedwell Hbr, clear Canadian Customs
- Sail on to Wallace Island.
- Sail back to Blaine, clear US Customs
- Drive 100 yds and clear Canadian Customs.

I know, cuz that's what I had to do at Pt Roberts (which is, actually, a very nice marina!)

Hey Les, you are right. I misread the chart. Ours is a 30 so I didn't notice. Thanks for speaking up.
