Johnson (OE supplier to many engine manufacturers) supplies glycerin right in the impeller kit..

OEM replacement for Yanmars do not bring any. I have never used such lubricants and my impellers last as long as any. I don't think it will do any harm but I'm skeptical about the benefits. The addition of a pack of glycerin makes it look more like a complete kit and probably commands a higher price.

Ya just don't want to get that mixed up with the Vick's Vaporub in the dark!
I've never tried to replace an impeller in the dark, but it might be a skill I should work on. I've had to replace a fuel filter in a bouncing rear cabin in near dark, but that didn't require any lubricant. :)

I tried auto and hardware stores and I haven't found glycerin. I do get some strange looks
When I search for glycerin on Amazon I get many sex lubes that are glycerin free.
Any pharmacy...
