I'm not just guessing-
Spent 15 years in property and casualty insurance. As usual, this board is mostly right (score one for us!). First, yes, a standard homeowners policy (the form is HO-3, used in all 50 states) offers protection for liability under your house, for the amount of liability listed on the policy. However, as you guys surmised, there is a length limit of 25 feet (LOA). Longer gets no coverage. And again, liability covers other people and their property, not yours. That's what hull insurance is for. Boats don't usually have comp and collision split, but unlike homeowners policies, the boat policies vary widely between companies and states!I think of liability coverage as lawyer insurance. Hate them until I need them!BTW, when shakespeare proffered killing the lawyers first, he meant that without them, a society would sink into chaos and destroy itself. My, how times have changed.BTW, timo, it might be a misprint- thy sold spouse. Lucky guy.Ross- you nailed it. Your friends description is how we always explained it.cup
