I'm reminded of a time when I owned a business where large crates came in from time to time that were only to be lifted with a fork lift from one particular side, so on the cardboard covering was printed in large lettering "do not fork from this side". the temptation was just to much for one of my employees to cut out the sign just the right size to then tape on the tailgate of our female delivery drivers truck and send her across town down the main drag. apparently it took her quite a wile to figure out why so many cars were honking at her, waving and grinning from ear to ear........ awww good times :laugh:
Many decades ago a woman wrote in Reader's Digest that she and her lady friend borrowed her husband's company pickup to transport a mattress from one home to another. Truck was a stepside -- narrow bed -- and the mattress was wide, so it went in diagonally. Same thing: lots of honks, waves, laugher. Didn't understand it until they started to unload and saw on the tailgate of the automotive garage's pickup "WE GIVE ROAD SERVICE."

Years ago I on the VHF a Mayday was called. The caller stated that his motor died and was going into the rocks. The coast guard asked what type of craft it was and the reply was a sail boat. As the wind were 15-20 kts the coast guard said why not put your sails up and sail away from the rocks. His reply was my wife said its too windy we need a tow.

That must be the guy who called 911 to report that someone stole his weed.

Somewhere, someone hasn't heard this yet:

Oh, what a strange bird is the pelican!
His beak can hold more than his belly can.
He can hold in his beak
Enough food for a week
And I don't know how the hell he can!

When I was a kid living aboard, my parents signed my two brothers and me up for the Calvert Correspondence School of classes K thru 12, to home school us while we were out of school sailing to Maine from Florida. One assignment was to pick a poem and memorize it to recite back to our parents. I picked, Sea Fever, by John Masefield, my younger brother picked the poem A wonderful Bird is the Pelican, By Dixon Lanier Merritt. We all sat in the cockpit of Sunflower and recited our poems. It was while sitting at anchor somewhere off Hilton Head or Beaufort S.C. That was in 1977, I was 14, my younger brother was 12.

That brings back some sweet memories. Thanks Urban Hermit.

Will, I live to serve. But -- thank you for letting me know I brought a little glow into someone's life. Nice feeling for me, too. (Is there more to that "poem"?)

No. It's described as a limerick.

One of my favorite limericks goes,

As a beauty, I am not a star.
There are others more handsome by far.
but my face, I don't mind it,
for I am behind it.
It's those out in front get the jar.

NEED HELP POSTINGS Don't you love it when people don't include pictures but try to describe the situation.... then ask you to help them fix a problem.

Sometimes I wonder what a post from Cheech and Chong would look like....

Oh, okay, so now I'm getting into the depths of this engine thing, right? So, imagine we’re creeping toward the rear of the engine, not too far. There’s this hose, on the right. It’s leading somewhere, almost like it’s got its own destiny, maybe it’s feeling important, or maybe it's just along for the ride. What is it? Where’s it going man? It seems to be going straight to this metal block, it’s like a little piece of silverish, aluminum-ish heaven, but this thing is corroded man. Like, it’s not a full-on apocalypse, but it’s like 15% of it is missing, just gone, probably off the bottom somewhere, like a part of it just... evaporated into engine history man. But, don’t even get me started on how it looks like someone’s been taking a bite out of it, like a fluffy marshmallow with a bite missing...corroding it slowly over time, like a slow dance with rust man. Now, this corroded metal block doesn't seem to be doing anything, what a character it is, just chilling, no rush, no care. It's not really doing much. It’s just laying on top of this bracket. It’s a little stack—bracket, metal block, like an accidental tiered sandwich or something, except there’s no cheese, who took my cheese man...only more metal. And the bracket, it, is resting on my heat exchanger, which is kinda like the VIP lounge of the engine, handling all that hot stuff man but trying to keep it cool baby—kind of the engine’s unsung hero, you know what I mean man? So, the metal block is all comfy on top of that, probably thinking it’s in a prime location, but really, who knows what it’s doing there. It’s like a random piece of the engine puzzle that someone threw in, hoping it would make sense later. It’s like we’re witnessing the aftermath of some hasty engineering decisions, but in the best way possible man. Or maybe it’s all part of the plan.

If ONLY they were as accurate as Cheech and Chong, I might back off with my perpetual bitching.

And then, and THEN, we have the poster who provides a picture which there is no way in hell you could tell what you're looking at. The picture is taken about one inch from the item in question. Please see the below picture of my engine mount :

Stare at it for about 10 minutes and suddenly you'll see it. How many metric hours do you figure I can put on it before it needs an incremental replacement ? I have also included a distance shot for greater clarity :

But THEN, as if that doesn't kick you in the crotch hard enough, you get the guy asking about something inside his cabin and then posts pictures of his cockpit and underside of his boat.

I just don't get it ! ! ! !

That is clearly a schlond poofa. If you are not certain what a schlond poofa is, or how it is used, then this may be a very rare case where the PO knew more.
