I recently bought a 290 Hunter with displacement of 7500 lbs and a keel of just under 4'. She comes with a steel cradle and it occurred to me that potentially I could buy a 10,000 lb float trailer and have the cradle welded to it creating my own trailerable boat. For the near term I would simply drag her home for the winter to save on the yard costs but in future we might relocate for a year or two and I love the idea of being able to trailer her where I need to go. Obviously she is big enough to necessitate a crane for the mast lowering and raising so that is a cost, but I figure I will be needing a crane to put her in the water anyway.
