That's great! Funny, looking at your pictures is just like looking at my own boat...even down to the blue bottom paint (only recently turned red). Differences: I never had wood floors, only plain white nonskid (well, lowskid...), plus I have three drawers on the port side under the bench.

Do you still have the old, original jib roller-furler? I still have mine, but the old bearing went dry and rusty. I was able to source a replacement at a bearing factory in San Diego a few years back. The boat yard guys are always giving me a hard time about my "old furler" and telling me I need a new one, but it works just fine. I also recently upgraded to new LED nav lightbulbs and LED interior lights.

I also ripped out my old crappy floor. I replaced it with a cheap composite floor from Home Depot. It wasn't that hard to put in, it was $60, is super durable, and completely turned around the inside of the boat. With a nice rope molding around the edges it looks prety damn good if I do say so myself. And if it gets ruined? Who cares! I'll just rip it out and drop in another one. Its so cheap! Here is a pic:

Did you use a Pergo-type product? Which flooring did you use?...looks great!

Thanks. I used a laminate type flooring, specifically two cases of this:

I purchased two cases for like $50 and then spent $10 on synthetic rope for the molding. I went for synthetic because I didn't want it to rot on the floor. Whole job cost about $60 and two days worth of my time.

You should check out "DianaOfBurlington"'s pics and owner mods on this site. He owns and has been rebuilding a Hunter 25 in New Jersey. He also is the son of the original designer, John Cherubini. He was also involved in the layout of the early Hunter 30s.

What was the issue with the 110? I'm getting ready to face the same job and even bought a new 110 panel with meters on it. I'm thinking I might as well run new wiring to my outlets and charger.

Cool projects, but why bother if your going just to sell the boat? I'm not saying its not worth re-doing the interior of the boat a little but why do all the work if your not going to be the one enjoying it. Also a new floor, while nice, probably won't be the make or break decision potential buyers will see in your boat.

Also, I'm pretty sure I've seen your ad to sell your boat on craigslist, and from what I've been observing you haven't had many offers (I saw you drop the price). You need more pictures bro! And a better description! Do you have a shoal keel or a deep keel? What types of sails? What port lights are you installing? Hows the paint? Etc. Also, if I connected the dots correctly to your YouTube account, your packing a Yanmar 2GM20 in that thing. That is HUGE. Most 27's from that era (mine included) have a crappy sb8 or worse, some Renault abortion. That 2GM engine adds at least another $2000 to your boat. Heck, why not sell the engine by itself, it'll easily bring in at least $3000.

Right on man. Glad to see your hanging onto the boat. You got a real gem with that 2GM20F engine in it. If you do wind up selling it I wouldnt ask for anything under $10,000 for the whole boat (fixed up of course) or $3000 for just the motor. Glad to hear you got all those offers, its nice to hear that there is still a healthy market for these old boats. I hope you have fun sailing up in the Hamptons, but I am sad to see another H27 like mine leaving Barnaget Bay.

Glad to see Hunter 27's being maintained. I find it's a boat that begs to be maintained, although sometimes reluctantly. I'm always looking at 30's and 33's (don't tell my 27) but I find that the 27 sails and handles heavier than it's length and that it is always 'just big enough.' It responds well to upgrades and refurbishment but can tolerate a fair bit of neglect because it is built stoutly.

My favorite aspect is that it is a safe, weatherly sailboat. I think that if it had a full keel it would probably be featured in distance cruising articles. The only reason that it hasn't already is because, like most other H27 owners, it started out for me as more of a weekend/coastal boat due to family/work responsibilities.

It may not be the best or the biggest but I think an old H27 is a LOT of boat for the money. My only disappointment would have to be the knowledge that, as a DIY'er I could be putting the same amount of time, effort, hassle, and money into a much bigger boat. Sometimes it seems that the effort is wasted in this regard. In exchange for nominally greater slip fees I could be repairing the engine in a H33, or fixing gelcoat in a H30 for not much more money and have a roomier boat at the end of the day...the purchase point of most Hunters of this vintage being only a few thousands apart, if that... Such is life I guess.
