Has anyone replaced the bladder and hand pump in their S2? At initial inspection, it seems pretty straightforward, but unsure what size holding tank to install, placement of macerator, etc. Any input appreciated. Thanks!
it all depends on your useage i would think....i have put a 20 gallon tank in my 9.2 A.....not much space to do it......i havent been on a 9.2 C so i cant tell you about that.....i am putting the pump in another space under the settee....Has anyone replaced the bladder and hand pump in their S2? thank ya John for the kind words.....My 9.2A's tank is in the same location as Woody's. I used the existing opening and could only fit a 10 gallon tank (the boat came with a FULL 5 gallon tank that had no pump out provision!). I find that the ten gallon tank fills so quickly that I avoid using the head. I'm going to try a composting toilet and will report back on that. If I were to keep the existing, conventional set up, I'd go Woody's route and squeeze in a 20 gallon tank. I can tell you, my finish work wouldn't look anything like his, though!

Can't be the view of the city at the price! WYC hasn't changed much I'm sure...expanded the kitchen and the menu a bit....added another set of docks...plus the town built some docks and started charging $5 to use the ramp.BTW - Bob M - Used to live up in MA and belonged to the Winthrop Yacht Club in the 90's before moving to FL. Had a 20' Grady White, then a 34' Silverton, which I relocated to Falmouth, then to FL. Great memories in Winthrop. My in-laws had a home overlooking the "hahbah." Woody - great pics!
Would love any info on new head. Our boat was owned by an 80yr old women who took great care of it but had trouble with the pumpout and replaced the head with a portipotti. The deck fittings are still there but she also removed the holding tank. Ive seen the soft tanks but dont know how much trouble they are? This will be a priority as i sail from the S shore of Lake Ontario and can not cross with a portipotti. There are a couple across the lake and back races in the Rochester area and a fixed head is listed as the first requirement.Bob,I agree about the low water @pump-out station. Seen that a few times, or it isn't working at all. Real handy. Thought quite a bit which direction we wanted to go with head issue. Re-build was. Headset, gasket kit about $75 or so, newer about $200 range. Still have plumbing issues and did need to replace lines to tank. 30 year old lines seemed prudent. I wanted off board discharge for when we get else where, so added expense again. And that issue opens another can of worms with C.G. on fresh water lakes here. Seemed composting system would be easiest long term solution, and gain more storage as holding tank is under aft (our) berth. Really think another fresh water tank installed for transom shower and plumb also to tub for the Capt. Going to boat(250 miles away) tomorrow to install new alcohol stove and measure other items for install when it warms some. Will see how all pans out. Thank you. Bob
