30 cm of snow in Brandon, 70 miles east of here
And about time, too! The heat has finally given way to drier air and good winds here at lat. 28. Had a great sail on Sunday. Winds 10- 15 and hardly saw less than 6 knots all day. To all our frozen northern friends, come on down. I'm sure any number of us would love to have you as crew. Hurray for winter! It's all a matter of latitude. Here at 27° we are coming into the best sailing of the year.
Tempting. I usually head south several times during the winter to sail/coach with friends. Best offer so far has been from Laurent, who keeps his First 260 in the the Îles d'Hyères off the French Riviera. Perversely, they are at the same latitude (45N) as Minneapolis. Go figure. And about time, too! The heat has finally given way to drier air and good winds here at lat. 28. Had a great sail on Sunday. Winds 10- 15 and hardly saw less than 6 knots all day. p.s. Bring your boat babes, also.
We may not be the French Riviera but, if you are ever in the West Central Florida area, give a holler. You won't need your foulies or your parka. You will need your sunscreen.Tempting. Glad to see you came through OK.This was Saturday night after we put her back at the dock from Hurricane Mathew. Currently 83° today We may haul out in January to do some bottom work since the weather will be cool enough to not sweat to death sanding and painting.
Oh, give it about 60 days and you will have lots of friends out on the Cays!Flip side of the coin here. We were the ONLY boat anchored in the Tobago Cays this week and Chatham Bay, Union Island was also deserted. Few restaurants are open in Port Elizabeth, Bequia and I could count the transient boats in the anchorage with both hands and have some fingers left over.
Almost like it was 30 years ago.
You need to move...Its that time of the year where we have to put our boats to winter sleep. I actually pulled my boat out a few weeks ago, cause she sustained some damage and she is at the body shop now.
We had snow here yesterday and it is outright miserable today. freezing, wind blowing, flurry's you name we got it.
So I guess for the next 8 months we will be desk sailing, hanging out here with SBO .
Hope every one has a great winter.
