C&C 30 Mk I Silver Harbour
Silver Harbour, Arnes Manitoba. Saturday's jobs - take down stow the dingy davits, dodger and bimini, install frame for winter cover. Need another day to get the cover up. 30 cm of snow in Brandon, 70 miles east of here. Twitch twitch.... Only folks left in the water are the trailer sailers...

I am right there with you Dave. I love SNOW!!!! I have 14 pairs of skis and can't wait for the first snow day! Living in southern Indiana is like living on the edge of hell when it comes to weather cooperating with outdoor recreation though. The wind barely blows all summer which sucks for sailing, and we wind up driving north a lot in the winter as the snow very seldom makes it this far south.
Plus the 7 month long break from sailing gives us time to catch up on other activities we miss out on when were on the boat. Like yesterday we went kayaking. Nobody does it quite like my pretty lil lady

An no one naps on the water quite like her either :snooze:

Now we just wait till the snow starts flying within driving range and all will be right in the world again!

Fought the sizzling heat of summer to add some niceties to the boat and am now ready to start the Fall sailing season here in South Texas. That runs until about June usually but since adding a bimini I may be able to sail year round now.

Back in the days of PM Mulroney, Canada was given the opportunity of annexing the Turks and Caicos (they suggested it!) too bad, we would have had a province with no winters and a place that snowbirds could still call home without having to move to a foreign country. Just think all the warm weather sailing we could have done instead of the miserable 4 months we have now! Perhaps we should annex Haiti :)

But then there was yesterday. @Jackdaw shot this off his stern after he of course caught and passed us.....

Probably low 60's with 10-14 breeze.....

If you really want to feel depressed.... google "COLUMBUS DAY REGATTA" to see how we celebrate the end of summer in South Florida.

We started a race this morning in 35F air temperature.
Love that frostbite sailing, beats sweating to death in the deep south... at least that's what I keep telling myself.

Took my sails and bimini down yesterday. Did a partial systems winterization. My mast is coming down this year to do work on the wiring.
My only bright spot is we're headed for 12 days in the BVI in a couple weeks! Got a 47' Leopard waiting for us!

In Oklahoma it's in the 80's still. Still sailing. Sorry for the rest who have to store it up for the winter.

I feel like I'm reading Gloom-n-Doom, and I went swimming just yesterday.
"Mistress" will continue getting upgrades and tweaks.
One of the reasons I bought a Mac was to modify her to my liking while still sailing her. Since she was purchased last November, she has undergone many mods, to include LED lighting throughout, a power water system for the galley, complete re-wiring, trailer upgrades........

Winter? That's not something we in the Texas Hill Country are really familiar with. It's just an opportunity to do things that I have been contemplating all Spring/Summer/Fall.

Please - the water temperature around here is struggling to stay above 60. I haven't given up on swimming season yet. I have to admit it's waning. But a couple of warm days and I'll get my salt water fix for the last time until spring. Cold makes my joints feel good!
