We just purchased a 1988 Catalina 27. PO is out of country for a bit so can't ask him. Stove top is Hillerange, Princess model, by Seaward. How do you unlock it for gimballing feature? I called company and they could not help me w/o model #, which I can not locate. Am assuming is prob underneath, which of course, I can't see, because I can not figure out how to unlock it. She mentioned little deadbolt like feature on front but I did not see anything like that anywhere on it. Then she said it wasn't a design which is intended to gimball. I think she may be incorrect as it is installed with the swinging type apparatus/feature. What am I not seeing?

Seems like most have that latch

at the back of the stove, in the center about an inch down from the top. Spring loaded in a gateway it frees the two pins at the rear corners, don't expect much tho', you can level it for list but it's not gonna keep the soup from spilling in a seaway.

Check both sides of the stove near the bottom

If it can be swung free, there will be a small rod on one side or the other preventing the stove from swinging. Follow the rod to the stove and you should find the release which will either be a mechanical lock or a spring loaded lock.

Good Luck.
