Hunter 42 purchased with Garmin GPSMAP 3205 chartplotter that that did not work. Found a 3205 on Ebay. Works well. Trying to connect to ST 7000 autohelm. Guy working on it wants to know if the 3205 ever worked with the ST7000. Anybody know?

Not sure of your Garmin 33205, but I connected a Garmin Chirp 54CV to an older Raymarine autopilot. My control head had a spare plug opening. Researched it on line and found a Raymarine Seatalk converter for around $100. Also needed a devicenet adapter to connect the Garmin 5? or 6? pin cable to the converter cable. Still working on getting the rest of the vintage instruments to talk/listen to the Garmin.

Probably not.
The 3205 has :
NMEA 0183 input ports 2
NMEA 0183 output ports 2
No NMEA2000 ports.
The St7000 has:
SEATALK port

You'll need some type of conversion to make them talk to each other.

I also have a similar problem. I am using a gpsmap 942xs and would like to connect 2002 Raymarine autopilot on my 386. It is the wheel version. The 942xs has two nmea 0183 ports and two nmea 2000 ports. Conversion from Raymarine Seatalk is the problem. What cables and converters are required and where can they be sourced?
