We made some changes to the cookies about a week or so ago to better sync them across all of our domains. Try this: go to the main forum page at http://forums.sailboatowners.com . Put your cursor over your username in the upper right, then select Log Out on the pop-down screen. Log back in from that same page using the little login tab at the very top of the screen. I would use that screen to login on your iPhone for a few visits. Let me know if that doesn't help.

Open your settings and select Safari. Take a look at your Privacy settings and make sure it doesn't have a restrictive setting. Unless you have a lot of saved cookies and sites and such, you can also clear all cookie data. I don't know exactly _why_ that would make any difference, but it might.

There's really no reason why login won't on iPhone, outside of your Safari cookie settings. Cookies work the same way on all devices.

If anyone here is an iPhone ace and can weigh in on this, please do!

Phil,

The Giant Canvas Sail banner at the bottom of the page seems to be too wide on my iPhone. It forces the rest of the page content to come up only half the width of the screen.

I have an iPhone 5. Safari works fine, however, the phone had to get restarted a couple of days ago and has been slightly unstable since the last upgrade.
Some suggestions: restart the phone. Clear the cookies and stuff from the Safari preferences.
This stuff was tested to within an inch of it's life when Phil was rolling out this version, but you may still have some detritus left over. If the old App is still on the phone, delete it and restart.
I find the phone really doesn't display very nicely in portrait orientation, it needs to be in landscape. The top right parts of the screen are sometimes on top of each other. 2015-11-26 12.47.22 pm.png Pressing what you think is the new message notification gets translated as mail, or profile. That's just the phone trying to stuff it all into a very small space. It works just fine landscape.

Phil, does Mainsail know you guys are offering him up as a Black Friday special? :poke:

Grrr. That shouldn't happen but it sure does. Thanks for the heads-up!

The pages of threads used to have the original post at the top of each page. Is this something that is a preferences setting against the user or global?
The eloquent frog did not start this conversation, and I got here by the Alerts link.

We did have that feature but we don't now, as it was a special mod we made for vBulletin. If there is enough demand for the feature I can see if it is available or can be made for this forum.

Phil,

I detested that feature. As in mildly hated it. On a regular basis.:cuss::cuss::cuss:
Whenever someone posted a new topic that was LONG, you'd have to scroll down each page. :banghead::banghead::banghead: Small potatos, I know, but it got old very quickly. When Maine Sail, as a mod, did one of his great articles that was also LONG, that didn't happen.:biggrin::biggrin:
Heck, if you know what topic you're on, I find little need to go back to the OP, but if I do, I simply go to the first page and reread it.
As you may have figured out, I suggest you leave it just the way it is. :plus:

Other forums I read don't have it either.

My thought was that it helped prevent thread drift, but since Stu seems to have a small consideration towards it, I'll shut up now. :snooze:

It won't get changed unless you tell us it needs fixin'. So please post input here. Thanks!
Maybe not a web issue but rather some training on my part.
So when I bookmark the link (Favorites) for "New Posts . Recent Activity (forum style)" it takes me backwards to a specific place in time.

Phil,
Is there a single URL that will bring me to the most Recent Posts (forum style)? I would like to save it on my Favorites Bar. Currently, I seem to have to open an older point in time and then update to get to the most recent post by clicking on the button "New Posts (red number)". A URL does seem to exist for the Recent Posts (old style): http://sbo.sailboatowners.com/recent-fx.php

under the "boat info" tab at the top of the page.... I went there in an attempt to read some reviews, maybe make one or two, and I only see 5 boat brands that are supported... does this mean if we want to read about a different brand other than one the 5 listed, that we are SOL??:frown:
under the current "boat info" tab, the first 5 selections/options all direct us to the same page showing the 5 brands of boats to choose from.... I know the old format had many other brands listed to browse thru, and was wondering if this is the way it is going to rtemain with the new format, or if it just hasnt been completed yet?....

Is there a way to change how often e-mail notifications are sent? I don't see a way in the preferences area…. but I have been accused of overlooking things from time to time.
I find it very common to ck my e-mail and have new e-mails telling me there are new replies to watched threads that I read two days ago. it gets rather confusing at times.
I-Mac with Safari

Thanks,
Russ

I'm having trouble with that, too. The way it is set up, the server will send one email notification (per forum or thread, I think) then no more until you visit the site. Once you log a visit the notifications start again.

I understand the theory... it helps avoid having 100 emails from the forum when you go on vacation, but it's also a major pain in the butt and causes people (like me!) to miss replies and posts. I'll check into a workaround.
