The marker is the number of unread posts, but the list shows threads. There have been a lot of posts to the photo contest thread, so that only shows up once in the list but is probably getting counted for many unread posts if you haven't checked it in a few hours.

Hi Peggie. "Conversations" are just like our old Private Messages and they can only be viewed by you and the person you sent it to. It's not a forum post.

I don't believe you could post a new thread from All Forums in the old software, either. It worked pretty much the same way this does, it's kind of a "view only" forum and when you click into a thread it takes you to the forum where it was originally posted.

So far as I can tell, there isn't any thread called "Possible to clean under v-berth." That is a "conversation" (Privates Message) you are having with one or more people. Not sure who started it or why but it is not public, and not a forum post

My job has been fine this week. This forum software is not buggy and is far more stable than VB ever was. It's also much more intuitive and easier to use than VB. You just have to take the time to learn where the few necessary buttons are.
Hello, I am the one who started the thread "Possible to clean under v-berth". I did it, my first post on the site, perhaps one of the first after the upgrade. I was posting in "All Sailors", and then was surprised that it asked my to chose 5 members to send it to. And so, I chose 5 that were very regular and has lots of posts and of course knowing about Peggie Hall through this site and having purchased her book this summer, she was one of the 5 members. When I checked the next day in the forum for new posts I had none. Checked my email and was pleasantly surprised to have been contacted. I wish that this would be on the threads for all to see and also, we will possibly to some work before winter and I would like to share photos and receive more advice. If we go with a new tank, Peggie mentioned that she would help with that. I have not contacted anyone as nothing is happening at the moment and I did not want to bother them again through PM and was planning on started a thread again when work is underway. If there is a way to import these into the forum that would be great but I believe a new thread is the answer.
Thanks for all your work Phil, I appreciate this site so much.

The reply composition area has Bold, Itallics, Underscore. Does it have Strike through?

51RD55: I would start a new thread. Anything I did to import it would probably cause more problems than it would solve. :yikes:
Charles: I don't believe there is a strikethough code built into the software. I have tried to add one and I have no idea if it will work. The tags are
Code:
 [st]text goes here[/st]

Great, thanks Phil. Yep, I understand the dilemma you could be in, not pretty! In a few weeks, life will slow down a bit and then I will start a new thread.

It is absolutely amazing. Have you looked through the thread? Everyone here in the office is spending entirely too much time following it. Going to be tough to pick a winner.

I posted some and have looked through the whole thing. Perhaps you need to make this photo contest an annual thing?

I have one small bugaboo, Phil. When I'm responding to a post and am unsure of a word's spelling, I select the word and use the "define" button on my iPad 2.

The word selected invariably becomes "Forums" instead of the word I'm trying to spellcheck. I can copy it just fine however, and open another tab in my browser to paste the word onto a Google search.

Like I said, a small bugaboo.

Also, in the new "Recent Posts" on the Forums page, there's a problem with the links.

one thing that is irritating to me, and if its just me then ignore this.... it used to be that when I was searching thru pages of a thread by clicking on the page numbers, i could navigate perfectly well by clicking on the page numbers, and then when I wanted to go back to the "all discussions" forum, I could hit the "back" button and it would take me directly there.....

but now, when I have been searching thru pages of a thread, when i hit the back button, it takes me back to the last page I was on, rather than the forum page.... so if i search thru multiple pages of the thread by clicking on the page number, I have to click the "back" button multiple times to get back to the "all discussions" forum..... OR, i can go to the menu bar and click on it from there, but then it takes me to the top of the forum list, rather than the page/location I was on in that forum.....

i liked the way it was before, where the back button took me right back to the exact spot on the forum i was in. it was a lot less clicking that way...

Was that on the app or a computer? What you're describing is very nice but shouldn't have been possible in the old software, either. :) Could have been app behavior, though. I'll pay around with that and see if there's a way to navigate that better.

If you're on a computer, you can also hold down your back button and release on the title of thread you were last reading. That should take you to where you left off.

That actually sounds like an Apple bug. Hurray! ;) I have no idea how the new iPads select words so I don't know what I could do to fix it. Is this on the new (iOS 9?) operating system?

The new one over in the right column? Shoot, it's working from here. Does it not function or not take you to the correct page?

Trying it on the win7 laptop now, and it seems you're correct. iOS 9.0.2.
Never mind.

Phil,

Is there any way that you can make the gray dot (Go to first unread message) larger? I'm having some trouble hitting it easily with my mouse.

on my computer... and it was nice not having to back out thru everywhere I went just to get back to the main forum.

Oh, that is weird. The structure of the link is the same. Can you post one of the broken links here? i.e., go to the page that throws the error and grab the url. Thanks for your help with this!
