Ferrite Cores on Remote VHF Mic cable.

My new Standard Horizon RAM4 Mic has 2 Ferrite Cores included in the box. They need to be fastened to the cable on both ends of the cable as close to the screw connectors as possible. The instructions say to wrap each with electrical tape to keep them from falling off, as vibration may loosen them. Given where they are finally located , how would you know?
So would you heat shrink them rather than use tape? Tape just seems to dry out and loosen in the heat.
Thank you for the input.

Sounds like a better solution than tape.

A more secure and effective method for ferrites is to wind the cable through and around the core

I consider tape a temporary solution, shrink wrap or what Don says.

As Don described, I wanted to loop the cable through the core twice and pull the ends, which would hold it in place. But the core only allows a single pass through of the cable. I’ll heat shrink them to keep them in place. One thing for sure is these areas are not places you look at after the install. They are pretty much tucked away for the duration.
Thank you all again.

It might be difficult to heat shrink them to the cable give their large size difference.

A small zip tie on either side will keep it from slipping. If you are worried about it opening, then add one around the middle. Much quicker, cheaper, and easier to remove than tape or heat shrink.
