one summer, maybe 25 years ago, i was just sitting on a bollard at the PJ's dock just staring off in space. i had just arrived back about an hour earlier from an eight week sail that started with a run to chicago, then the chigago - mac race, then six weeks up in the north channel/georgian bay and back to sturge. all with family and friends. a stranger walked up to me and asked if i was alright. i looked at him and answered that i was fine. i then explained that i was just resting, that i was finally "off watch". he said he understood.

taking care of the vessel/crew is number one. arriving home safe is a great feeling. ............. with every single sail :)
