Thanks Chris. You are right. It would be prohibitive to replace the mast and spreaders, but might be possible to run a larger jib to either cars, like they they have, or a snatch block off the stanchions. Will talk to sailmakers and riggers at Annapolis boat show next month. These pics will help that conversation. Also useful for me to know actually that it is possible to place the cars and winches where they have them (wasnt sure how strong the deck was there). I'll let you know what I hear.
