Catalina 30 Water Tanks

I have recently bought a 1988 Catalina 30 with a tall rig. I am trying to locate the second water tank. The prior owner had carpeted the interior so I have not yet gotten into the hatch in the cabin sole that is just below the dinette table. The owner's manual shows two water tanks plus the hot water heater. I located the hot water heater under the port dinette seat next to the holding tank. The main water tank is under the forward v-berth. I have two water filler caps on the starboard side of the boat. So, where is the second water tank? I've tried tracing the filler hose but I can't follow it under the cabin sole. Any suggestions? (It's not behind the port settee.) Also, if there are two tanks, is there a valve to a switch between the two tanks? If so, where is it located?

Location on my '81

I have no idea about an '88, but my '81 has a large tank in the v-berth and a smaller tank under the starboard settee just forward of the chart table. Mine has a valve mounted under the forward end of the aft quarter berth forward of the fuel tank, but I suspect an earlier owner may have installed it there.

Under the starboard settee

On my '88 C30 tr there is a 25 gallon tank under the starboard settee and a 19 gallon tank under the v berth. The 6 gallon hot water heater is under the quarter berth in front of the fuel tank. This brings the total water capacity to 50 gallons. On my boat there are no tanks under the sole. The valve for each tank is located at the tank outlet. As far as I know this is the standard arrangement. Hayden Watson S/V Papillon C30 tr/bs Spokane, WA

No such luck

Thanks for the tips. I've checked under the starboard settee and there is no water tank there. That is where my two batteries are stored. I can't find it under the aft bunk either. That's where the fuel tank and airconditioning unit are housed. I know it's on board somewhere because it's in the owner specs and when I put water in both filler caps there are no leaks down below. So the water must be going into a tank somewhere. Any suggestions are welcomed.

Port Lazerette?

The only other place I can think of that would be big enough is under the port lazerette. On my 81, that's where the water heater is. I can't imagine that there's anywhere where there's room under the sole. Have you tried calling Catalina or trying to track down the former owner.

Agree with Hayden

My 88 30 tall rig is the same set up as Haydens. Starboard settee, v-berth, and under rear sleeping area forward of the fuel tank. Tim

Forward of the batteries

I've got an '88 tr30 and the second water tank is under the starboard setee, forward of the batteries.

Thank You

Thank you all for your helpful replies. I'll check again under the starboard settee forward of the batteries. I've looked there many times, but perhaps I am just missing it. (Not sure how that could be.) I'll also talk with the former owner. Thanks again for all of your helpful comments.
