Good Captain

A good captain attends to the needs of his passengers. This is a good move. Knowing what we do about your craftmanship I expect a beautifully mounted screen that is covered by varnished wood when not in use.

Mainsail, dont apologize for

self abuse.On a more serious note, I have always considered a TV as a major piece of safety gear. The weather reports will be faf more accurate than the clown reports on marine radio. Besides, whetever keeps everyone happy is the important thing. You don't count, remember? When the toddlers grow up a little, they have a high activity level and a short attention span. The TV is just one more way of keeping them happy.Not everyone is a purist. I for one am not.Tony B

Maine Sail, you could just park the kids with a baby sitter

while you do your thing. That way you wouldn't have to be bothered by what they want, and you would have no interruptions, TV, toys, etc. to distract you from what you are doing. Thanks for not doing that. One day your kids will thank you, too. In nearly 40 years as a Boy Scout leader, I have seen too many kids for whom I and my assistants were the only adults who paid them any attention.Enjoy your kids and your sailing! ;D -Paul

Very nice, Maine Sail. I was hoping to see a rug with a turned up corner, or some other imperfection, but alas, I leave depressed again. Have been officially diagnosed with OCD? Regarding your "confession", I don't really get the 'shame' about tv. Is it because it's called the wasteland, or because sailors of generations past never had them? The post about weatherwatching was dead-on, particularly with today's sophisticated radar!.For the record, I like tv. I even like McDonalds!cup
