I think the bow roller set up on the ODay is for a danforth style anchor and the pulling the cqr so that the radius on the anchor is nested on the roller means the tip of the anchor is hitting the bow. Leaving it loose means the anchor wants to keep moving around, also not a good solution. I've managed with it for a lot of years and by the way have never had a problem setting it or having it hold, but I'd prefer an anchor that sits properly. Maybe I'll put the danforth backup anchor on the roller and then use the CQR by storing it elsewhere. Another option is modify the bow roller to push it further out but it is part of the stem fitting that includes the headstay, chocks for the dock lines and the anchor roller. I may be able to design an insert that would mount in the roller pin hole and extend a new roller further out. I'll take a look this weekend and maybe have someone fabricate a titanium unit.
