you can see the close-up here how I drilled the bolt holes for the chocks oversized, then epoxied, then drilled them the correct size for the hardware. this is much stronger way to mount load-bearing hardware and there's no place for water to seep into the fiberglass. I then used bed-it tape around the holes, and a little around the head of each bolt

The system uses a SS double ended stud to secure the mast. Once the must is up, the gin pole winch keeps it in place freeing both hands to secure the fore stay.

Tape keeps the cable out of the way and the turnbuckle properly aligned.

The two external SS plates can be safely removed after stepping the mast. I have not see this solution elsewhere but it works well. A first attempt with aluminum plates instead of of the SS was marginally successful as the larger size made the removal the gin pole after the operation somewhat difficult.

Gin pole made of an old spar and small winch and a couple of blocks. Allow single handed mast stepping operation. Unlike other systems the gin pole stays at a constant angle. A boom bail is installed on the mast to connect the line that goes to the winch. A nice guy at West marine explained this system to me. The extensible high crutch helps. Thus far, I have stepped the mast a 4 times single handed with no baby stays and I have not encountered major issues, e.g. routine minor untangling. I plan to add baby stays to make the system it bullet proof.
