Neat boat, this looks like one of the original Willard built Lancer 30s. You can tell from the swept back keel that is similar to the C&C Mk I...

9. Interior almost back together. Still have some engine room insulation to install this spring but 3 cylinders are sure quieter and smoother even without additional soundproofing. No more 1-2 knots against tidal currents, and should be a lot more reliable over the coming years.

8. Heading back in... I did new bottom paint and buff out, bought new lettering which isn't all installed yet.

7. New KiwiProp. Still fine-tuning the pitch (scuba gear and an allen wrench) but does sail at least a half knot or more faster upwind when feathered compared to previous fixed two blade. Backs up straight now!

6. Plumbing to new hot water tank. Installed outboard anti-scald valve to mix down the 180F hot water temp when using engine heat. Previously had replaced leaking fuel tank with 18gal. plastic one seen, needed to install fuel return hose to tank (previous yanmar didn't use one)

5. Aluminum cap on the stringers, engine plumbed up and connected. Put in a dripless stuffing box. Fiberglass shop custom made an aqualift-type cannister muffler so the exhaust hoses fit perfectly. Engine fit into space without problems.

4. In the boat. Now the professional installers take over. Yard forklifted the engine to the salon floor, two guys muscled it onto the beds to check height. Spot on. Engine distributor let me borrow an engine jig but the installers didn't use it - just lifted the engine on and off until they had the alignment.

3. Cleanup and painting raised engine beds. I replaced all the bilge hoses and put in an additional electric bilge pump. Added plywood to the wall next to sink to seal up some openings and improve soundproofing. Beds needed to be raised a bit over 2" to accommodate new engine. Spacing between beds was fine. Glasswork was about $350.
