Use an eyesplice to attach headsail clue?

I use a relatively thin single line tied close through my clew with an alpine butterfly. I sail mostly in light to no wind and wanted to reduce the weight my jib has to drag across with it. (I tried a cow hitch, but the asymmetry gave me OCD.)

Yeah I can see that thing gettin stuck on some stuff, or causing injury if it whipped around in a gust of wind and caught ya on the temple .
Not the same kinda of problematic as a non-locking spring gated carabiner like I tried. I guess the carabiner I used isnt exactly "sailboat hardware" for a reason.

Well.....aint that nifty! Doesnt look like it would hold together? I like the idea, but it looks like the stopper knot would pull through that bight.

Been using it for years on two boats. It has NEVER come loose . Big advantage is when I need to reef my jib I can undo the knot and move it up to the reefing clew
