Screw Terminals and Ferrules

I never really liked screw terminals, but they are ubiquitous, and useful. To address them I've done a little research and then recalled crimp-on ferrules for this very purpose.

They come in a huge range of sizes, and also insulated and uninsulated. The latter is best for tight spaces, as inside NMEA2000 connector housings.

There's a special kind of crimper for these, too.

I ordered a crimper with an assortment of insulated ferrules, and also an assortment of uninsulated. I'll let you know how it works out when I get them!

It seems a piece of adhesive heat shrink on the insualted ones could make a very sound and secure termination for screw terminals as you find on things like the Nolan RS-11 or the CX5003.

I was wondering if anyone else here bothers with these?

I was not aware of these types of connectors until your post the other day.
Yea, I think they're a bit obscure. I was aware of them, but hadn't thought about them until I saw @Scott T-Bird 's post on field terminated NMEA2K screw terminal connectors. So, I'm going to try them out!

Can you help me out, where is referenced post by Scott?

Oh, and by the way, I'm going to put some green loctite on the threads of the screw terminals.
