Patting my Adiabatic fat tummy.
That's gross. This isn't you, is it ?

I disagree with an "adiabatic tummy." I'm going to suggest an "isothermal tummy" because somebody just keeps pounding an endless supply of calories into that thing. It keeps on expanding, and it hasn't lost one degree in years.

Nikki should be able to whip one up in a few days on her lathe. She should probably use a hardwood, though.

I remember seeing a drawing of an engine like this over 40 years ago. I showed it to my father and he said something like "sure, but how are you going to get the power out of it". I remember think of using a linear generator. I should have been an engineer, I would have if I had better study habits.

The engine that intrigues me is the "liquid piston engine". Google it.

Looks like a variation on the ideas of Felix Wankle.

He designed a rotary compressor in the 1920s. Later, in 1934, secured his first patent. Was even built into some cars in the 60's.

My sister had one. It was a decent engine. I think my sister brought it to a sudden death with her driving. I don't think there was a problem with the engine.

And 70's and early 80's. When I was in high school, I was 15 and on the kayak sports team. One of my teachers had a Mazda with a rotary engine in it. They were Mazda's big break into the US market and advertised for their smooth quiet running. My teacher gave me the keys to his car after a river run, and asked me to jog back and get his car for the team pickup shuttle. I had only been behind the wheel of a car, an early Honda Civic, a couple of times. It was all backcountry roads and no pavement, so no one to stop me and ask for my license.

When I got behind the wheel I started the car and thought it had stalled immediately, so I started it again. The grinding of the starter motor made my should blades jump to the top of my neck. I was glad I was alone.
