Warpspeed is kind of stiff as I recall, but it has been a while.
For certain, strip the cover for the first ~ 11 feet (about 4 feet short of the jammer when the sail is deployed; it will become 2 feet once the cover is gone. Look up the instruction. The end of the cover is buried inside the core, like a splice. Very easy, very neat. Don't forget the lock stitches, and lock the cover to the core with a knot or pin before you start.
The cover is always on just one side. What I was suggesting is that the original genoa may have had the cover on the opposite side. Possibly.
