Certainly you can hit some high pitched notes, but not sure you can play a scale.

Maybe a "One Note Samba"

My boat looks nothing like that today. The past week has been a series of partially finished projects.

First up, I arrived just after a rain storm. There was a pint of water on the head deck. I tracked it down to a leaking dorade. Removed the dorade for repair and added a quick patch to keep the rain out.

1/4” piece of plexiglass, some polyurethane caulk, and 2 aluminum strips for hold down.

John, why is there such a big hole in your deck for that dorade box? I'm used to seeing just a 3" or so round hole with a raised lip. That looks more like a vent than a dorade box.

Then the mechanic stopped by to to help me survey my 1973 Perkins 4.107. We adjusted the valves. And the engine looked to be in pretty good shape until she looked at the injectors. The hold downs on two of them were broken.

Only answer is the remove and replace. While at it, I figured it is time to service all 4 injectors.

This required a PB Blaster overnight soak. About 3 hours of boat yogurt for @Les Troyer and I. Really helpful to have a friend to share the scent of PB Blaster in a confined space.

We had success removing all four. Then we worked on cleaning the accumulation of carbon inside the opening.
We did a reasonable job.

My thought was it looks like an opening for a hatch. The design has 2 layers of plexiglass on a dorade wood frame. This provides a constant source of air and light into the head. Here is an image of the parts.

The PO failed to caulk and properly install the dorade to prevent leaks/moisture getting beneath the deck. That will be corrected. One option would be to ignore the dorade and install a decent hatch. I’m not sure of the solution till I get the dorade home and into the shop.

That makes more sense, trying to get light into the head. If you can find a hatch to fit that would be better. Or put a plate over it with a solar vent which will move more air than the dorade.

I took this one about a month ago. This is anchored in Oldtown creek just off of the Ashely River in Charleston SC. It is associated with a local park. I also captured some google earth shots so you can get an idea of where this is. If you live in the Charleston area, I recommend going to see it. Even though the creek is very narrow, it is dredged to about 9' at mid-tide.

Yes.... I am organizing my iCloud files...

This is the Hwy 17 bridge as it crosses the Ashley River shot from the harbor side.

And this is a railroad drawbridge about 9 miles up the Ashely River. This was shot on a king tide.

... and here is what a normal tide looks like. You can see from the growth on the pilons that this is about 2' below a normal high tide.

So I have the great fortune of being able to boat to work. As I was leaving work Wednesday, this guy started making a fuss... not sure if he was fussing at me or something else

We need details. He was fussing that you had the audacity to boat to work, that you were polluting, that it was an inconvenience to him that others might be boating?

I, for one, want to know what fuss was being made.
