Well, last night my wife and I slept on the boat for the first time.. It was really well except that at 2 am about 25 bass boats all returned to the marina. Seems we went up in the middle of a night fishing tournament.. oh well, the boat only rocked really bad for about 10 minutes..
So this morning we got up and started making the boat and slip ours.. including running shore power through the dock to the boat, setting up the bimini (which might be backwards- anyone know how the poles go on? Bend just above the deck connection to the bow or bend to the stern?) testing mast lighting..(nothing works on the mast) I sure hope the guys who set it up remembered to plug the electrical cords in!! All the while I was out doing that the Admiral was cleaning ... and cleaning.. and cleaning! It sure looks a lot better. However, we had to leave around 1 PM to get to a previous planned activity.
So, what I know for sure.. The keel bolts are leaking a little. Well, more than a little but not a lot. This is what my bilge looks like
Judging from paperwork I found, the PO decided to do this modification
So I sucked all the PVC pipes out with the shop vac this morning before all the cleaning and outside work and when I was ready to leave I looked back in the bilge and found some of the pipes were empty but others had water in them and there was about 1/2 inch of water in the bottom of the bilge. So, next week I will take the torgue wrench and nut and tighten them down..
Also discovered the head wont draw water in seawater (lake water). Guess the seals need to be replaces so I am ordering the pieces for that this week.
All in all it was a lot of fun.. "found" the mosquito netting that we didn't know we had.. That was GREAT... also found a big piece of fabric that might be a dodger ?? not enough time to figure that one out.
But having coffee this morning sitting in the cockpit made it all worth our while.. Can't wait to get off the dock and on the hook away from all the marina lights.. the stars were amazing last night with the lights.. can't wait to see them in a secluded cove and no lights..
oh yeah. our horseshoe buoy is growing grass or shrubs or some kind of plants through the huge hole in the cover of it.. suggestions on where to get one at a reasonable price???
Thanks for listening..
Scott
