When I replaced the chain plates on my M25, I used some long bolts to pull them into place. Also I took the old ones, cut the ends with the mounting holes off, used a dremel to file out the mounting so that they fit the square part of a 3/8 carriage bolt. Used those plates for backing plates and with the carriage bolts didn't need a second person to tighten the bolts. Used Bedit butyl tape to bed them.

Got my rebuilt windows installed today, mounted the mast holder on the fore deck, another coat of paint on the keel.
One more coat on the keel, then install the keel, new winch and new mounting plate.
Nothing left but go get wet

Hey Macboy, sorry for the delayed response. I just noticed this post this morning. All I did for the ladder was make a platform with 5/8" plywood stiffened up with 2x2's along each side. Another 2x2 at the end slips over the top rung of the ladder to keep it in place. I then topped it off with an entry mat to add traction.
The step-ladder in the picture is at about the same height, relative to the boat, as the bottom of the dinghy. My wife took a video of him climbing it but I can't seem to upload it.

Well we have a week of on again off again storms so no sailing. We did end up throwing a neighborhood 4th party. I spent a lot of time setting up only to get stormed out. My daughter and her boyfriend were first (and last) to perform. In the middle of their first (and again, last) song. The winds kicked up. You may notice the M26 sail used as a sun shade. (This is how I justified puting this in the sailing forum)

Installed a solar panel with regulator, which took longer than expected.
Added a bunch of storage/organization to the galley.
Loaded a bunch of stuff in anticipation of heading out Tuesday.

Removed, straightened, bedded the mast plate.
Replaced the backer plates and bedded the rear cleats.
Made new teak blocks for under the swim ladder mounts.
Made a new native cherry mounting block for the steaming light.
Starting to run out of things to do.

This weekend we managed to clean up all the construction messes so I could set the interior decorator in me loose. (Just bedding and throw pillows.) We got rid of the interlocking rubber mat tile flooring and replaced with a disposable yet tasteful indoor outdoor carpet. Made the beds up in matching sheet sets complete with cozy comfy duvets and pillows for all. Got measurements for the dishes and have started gluing up what will be a "cupboard" hanging down from above the galley by 5".
The big one for us was cutting the rear rail and installing a couple elbows and stanchion bases so we could walk through the rail instead of climbing over. What a difference! We were able to use the section we cut out as the port vertical support and then heated and bent up a nice curve in a piece of 1" conduit that we'll take to the bimini shop tomorrow to have a piece of stainless made up to match for the starboard side.
Aforementioned construction messes include new salon table so we don't need to disrupt the beds anytime we want it in or out. New woodwork above galley for electronics mounting. New corner table attached to companionway stairs over to starboard wall just aft of stbd seat. The handy dandy tubular anchor mounts on the pulpit, complete with new anchors and rodes. Comfy cockpit backrest (making the open rear rail of no concern to us) and then a new halyard to begin the colour coordination of our running rigging. We also added a layer of those interlocking foam tiles under both beds hoping it gives us that little bit of comfort without having to go all new foam.
Left to do:
- install lifeline netting
- install halyard clutch
- figure out solar panel and bbq mounting locations
- make mast gate
- make ladders more dog and kid friendly
- devise a pool noodle based slide we can hang off the side of the boat
- add a couple little shelves here and there as we learn where would be good
The netting & bbq and solar panel mounting I'll happily do at the lake in two weeks. The rest - it's all on the "round tuit" list. We leave for two weeks camping at the lake with the boat moored at the beach. It's the big debut to the wife and kids who haven't been on board since we brought it home for the first time. It's quite a different boat than the one they saw last fall.
