This summer I took a trip to Oriental NC for a bit of gunkholling in my Mac V222...

On the way to Oriental, we passed this road sign.....

I know, I know... I'm juvenile... so sue me...:D

Hand lettered sign over pass through window from kitchen to counter, "YOU CAN WHIP OUR POTATOES, BUT YOU CAN'T BEAT OUR MEAT" Fair Winds and Full Sails....

What's in a name? While sailing in the Bahamas some years ago, we anchored next to an old wooden classic. The name on the stern was "Sexasea." The name on his dinghy was "Sexaland."

Stay out of the seacocks thread...
Yeah it was tough seriously addressing that question with a topic like that! But I resisted! :)

NPR ran a story right before the Olympics in Beijing on how the Chinese gov. was sending language specialists around town to correct bad Chinese to English translations. My favorite..

Savory Chicken = Saliva Chicken

Personally if I saw saliva chicken on the menu, I'd order it....

There are so many clever lines associated with the University of South Carolina gamecock mascot we get tired of hearing them.

This topic goes right along with "out of the mouths of babes." My wife and son were visiting family in London, and my son, about 5 at the time, went fishing with his cousins. He called me, so exited he had caught fish. I asked what bait he was using, and he said "Magpies." Amid the laughter from his cousins, my wife explained he meant "maggots."

One of the big football rivalries in SoCal is USC Tojans vs UCLA Bruins. One year UCLA made up buttons that said, "Trojans burst under pressure!" Trojans won that year. Fair Winds and full Sails...
