I'd take that keel of yours and cut all that eff'd up glass off it like a banana peel... Id clean it up nice ( remove all rust ) and paint it 3 times ( 3 coats ) with a heavy oil base paint... Done!

As I mentioned earlier, You definitely have Venture 24, no poptop. Do you have the title to the trailer. If it's the original trailrite trailer then this should give you some idea as to the boat year. MacGregor went from V-24 to V-224, poptop model in the late 60's early 70's. As I and others have mentioned, fore/aft stringer on starboard side under cockpit should have some holes drilled in it which will give you hull #. If you can get that MacGregor in Costa Mesa may be able to tell you what year it was built. Hope this helps. Fair Winds and Full Sails....
