Today I tried my had at putting Yale Whip Locks on the bitter ends of my new running rigging. Since I take the running rigging in and out of rope clutches and blocks often (trailer Sailor) I figured it would be better to have more than the melted ends.
I looked up videos on Youtube. I then tried to do the whip locks and I found it to be really easy. It is harder on smaller lines (my furler line is 3/16") but I was able to do it.
