Yacht Clubs
I grew up sailing on Lake Michigan and my Dad was a member of Chicago Yacht Club. The people I met as a kid (early 60's) were very good to me and taught me a love for sailing that has not waned. CYC has two facilities that are as different as night and day. Monroe St. is the more traditional up-scale (including Jackets in the main dining room), and Belmont the more relaxed. Because of the two locations you could run into people who fit just about any description that people have mentioned so far. And I guess that pretty well sums up life in general, it takes all kinds, and God knows there are all kinds out there. We don't belong to a club on Lake Lanier and we have met wonderful people who share our enjoyment of sailing. What more could we ask for. Keep looking, you will find the situations that fits your needs. And don't be so hard on the ones who enjoy the Blue Blazers, their tastes just run different than yours and mine.
