trex
trex, i hope i have got the name correct!, is found in the lumber departments of home depot - among others.current main usesis for the building of such as decks on the sides of houses. comes in gray or light brown colors and can be used, cut, sawn, etc like regular wood. stained apparently also.comes in lengths of up to about 20 feet, rounded on two edges.much cheaper than most regular timber used for outside work and longer lasting.first tentative impressions are that the days of only being to use impregnated timber for outside/semi-outside projects could be towards the end.there is another similar product whosename i cannot immediately recall that is sold in up-to-date lumber yards.home depot seems the best first port of call.as i initially mentioned in my first message, i think it may be a cheaper and in everyway more satisfactory for boarding ladders, cockpit lockers, etc. where water - including that which is saline - is prevalent from immersion, wet ropes, covers, wet foul weather gear, the crew's wet bikini, or 'is minimal covering - after all this is all about the art of sailing!ted.
