Whenever you are replacing - or installing new - wiring, I strongly
encourage you to use "marine specific" wiring. It will be tin-plated copper.
The tin plating significantly helps prevent corrosion at any - and all -
connections, as well as the copper wire disintegrating over time in a
salt-air environment.
Yes, it does cost a bit more, but it is well worth the difference when it
comes to future problems.
