As the soon-to-be new owner of a Catalina 310, I was intially planning to store my boat over the winter on a As the soon-to-be owner of a Catalina 310, I was initially thinking about winter storage on a rotating basis; one year in the water (NJ Marina), next year hauled out and stored on dry land. But now I'm starting to have second thoughts due mostly to wear and tear on the boat kept in water all winter. Obvioulsy, a 310 is not trailerable so I can't just take it home at the end of the season. Can you share your opinions and experience with winter storage? What are the pros and cons of winter storage on dry land every year vs every other year? Thanks! Carl

land wins

I always puul out for the winter. I'm on the chesapake about 100-150 miles south of you. seems noreasters stir up a lot of debri in the water (tree limbs, etc). not to mention the average 2.5 feet lower tides in the winter. That puts a lot of keels in the mud around here. Another thought. If you stay in and Ice starts to build, can you react and get out or do you need to check & break up daily... some thoughts....had some hairy moments over the years. ALSO.... I am planning on buying a 310 in 2 years. been waiting for this new model. i would REALLY enjoy your feed back. e me please wcschaare@aol.com. GOOD LUCK
