I need a cover for my C 28MkII to get thru the N. Idaho winter in the water. Has anyone had a cover made for this boat or had good luck in this department? Thanks.
I've used 3/4" PVC and blue tarps on my Cat 30 for 5 years now without any problems. After the first year I marked the cover where I wanted to cut off the excess and add features. I used a regular sewing machine with heavy thread I bought thru Sailmaker's Supply and in a few hours had a custom cover. A few years later I upgraded to a spiffy white tarp and used the old as the pattern. If you search the archive for winter cover you'll find some hits.
I use the exact same method, works GREAT!! No chafe from the PVC and there's plenty of room inside to work if you need to.PS, I use twice as many ribs....at the stantion points and in the middle between them. If you mark all the ribs with a numbering system, it makes for easy reassembly the following year.
