Rick:Box wine. Yeeeccchhhhh.
Hadda google them. In this economy a box of 2 Buck Chuck starts to sound pretty good.Rick:
There are several box wines that are not too bad. Much better than 2 Buck Chuck. No, it's not Silver Oak.
Rick:
No 2 buck chuck in the box, 750ml bottles. It comes from Trader Joes.
It cost more in places other than California (very low wine tax). A good alternative for about $3.50 a bottle is Blue Fin also at TJ's. Also the Yellow Tail at Costco is great for the price $9/ 1.5L.
It's about the same price here as TBC in CA.
As for box wines--which we call "Chateau Carton" (pronounced "cartone")--they've come a long way in the last few years. I wouldn't recommend Franzia, but Black Box is actually quite good. And so are a couple of others. Not cheap, though!
For the "box wine ychhh" crowd, I put it in a nice decanter and put a VERY pricy empty bottle out in plain site...and prove every time that perception really is 99% of most people's reality.
Plastic flowers with a crystal decanter?[/i] Brilliant Peggie. Plastic flowers too?Only kidding.
Black Box is great! Keeps well on the boat, stores perfectly and is darn good wine. We're no wine snobs, but do get our wine from a couple of preferred wineries for many years, but BB is nearly as good, and definitely so for the boat!...but Black Box is actually quite good. And so are a couple of others. Not cheap, though!
