Has anyone ever replaced the stationary windows in a 1983 Hunter or comparable year and model. Mine are scratched, pitted, cracked, leaking, broken but other than that... they are ok.

I replaced mine on an '81 H22. It is not easy, but they look great. I used tinted Lexan sized about an inch larger all around, screwed and clear caulked the edges. Won't bore you with the details unless you really want to do it this way. Had no luck finding replacements for mine.

I am in the middle of removing and refurbishing the fixed ports in our '83 H34. They are the aluminuim frame. Basically I took the window out, removed the old Plexiglass, cleaned thoroughly- this is the hard part- and painted the frame (white) and replaced the plexi with 1/2 inch thick. Cant find the old weather stripping- didnt like it anyway so replaced with Dow 795 in grey. Used Butyl tape to hold the plexi to the frame. I plan to post the detail in the knowledge base but here are before and after pics- they are two different windows but you will get the idea. Total job should cost about 150$ .

Those look great, Richard. My 34 has the plastic frames .. I've been looking all over for the raw extrusioons to make new frames but have not found them.. I know there are several places who will custom build but I really don't want to spend lots of dollars on something that should be relatively inexpensive.. I've looked in plastics suppliers and RV places with no luck so far.
kloudie- it might be worth trying to pull the plastic frames and repainting them with Fusion plastic paint. The frames on mine came out very easily- I probably could have pulled them out if they were plastic with no breakage, You could then replace the plexi with 1/2 inch and caulk around with white Dow 795. I used grey butyl tape tp secure the plexi to the flange. I have never seen aluminium extrusion like the window is made from- You might find something with a search on aluminum extrusions. Let me know if you have any questions. The windows were far easier to get out than I imagined- took me about 15 min to get the window out
Thanks for the note, Rich.. I've had 'em out and re caulked them, but the frames are really getting brittle . The glass just sits on the outside of the cabin top. The butyl tape is under the glass (no screws) and the frame has a pressure flange that keeps the glass pushed onto the tape and cabin side. The frame is screwed onto the cabin side. The frame is a fairly complex PVC extrusion that has been mitered and fused together.. It is quite different from the aluminum frame set-up on some 34's.
