According to my Hunter dealer, the factory installed windlass was a Simpson-Lawrence Anchorman 1000.

Simpson-Lawrence was bought by Lewmar about 5-10 years ago, so I don't know what model windlass that is currently in production will fit.

Thanks much Rich

I know it is a Simpson Lawrence but not sure what model. I thought it was a Sprint 900 but I bought a new motor for it and it turned out to be the wrong one. Do you by any chance have a brochure on the Anchorman 1000.

Thanks for the help; Jack Lambert

No I don't have a brochure, but if you need a new motor (I'm not surprised), I can send you a link to a vendor in the UK who has a source of replacements that are quality built.

I'm traveling now and have the link at home. I can send Monday if you need it. If you tell me the model number of the Leroy-Somer motor I can tell you if it was the same motor as mine in the Anchorman 1000.

Me too, me too, Rich. Mine is fine, but 'just in case' I'd love to have the source. We don't do a lot of anchoring in SoCal.

Simpson-Lawrence Parts

I purchased a replacement 1000W motor for my S-L Anchorman 1000 in my h40.5 in June 2006. The dealer is in the UK, but don't be put off by the location. They do DHL shipping world-wide and I had my motor within a week. The cost was reasonable. I think the motor and shipping was about $400. It was the LEMAC 12V replacement motor (6044580A)- their current catalog shows it as AP700, but I was told it was a 1000W motor not a 700W. The current price is about $335 before shipping. Check the power and please let me know if it is not 1000W.

Their website is:

http://slspares.co.uk/parts.php?product=Anchorman+Power+Windlass

The original motor was made by Leroy Somer and IMHO is a real piece of junk.

The model number of the original motor is shown in the picture below for your reference.

Link for new motor for Windlass.

Hi again Rich and thanks for your help.

Please send me the link for a new motor. I have made three attempts to have mine rebuilt but each time it only works for a short time. As soon as I put any load on it then it quits working. I am convinced it is a failure of the brushes to make continuous and adequate contact.
