Huge difference from the 100+ that the Weather Channel is reporting. The biggest number I see on the link is 48. I wonder how they know? There aren't that many NOAA buoys out there are there?

It seems that the winds here are starting subside My Kestrel measured only 30 mph. get ready for it Up north. Hopefully it will start to fade a little.

I had gone out previously to the NOAA buoy page and found much lower winds than being hyped by TWC. I don't think they make up the numbers but they may be at altitude in the storm, but not down at ground level or sea level as reported by the buoys. Your guess as to why they hype these storms so much.

Because too many people would ignore them otherwise and get caught unprepared... Personally I think we do too much as a society to protect people from their own stupidity and ignorance to the world, a little more natural selection would do wonders to our country...
